Joseph Canino

Posted: Friday, June 7, 2013 4:00 am Joseph Canino, of New Hope, died peacefully Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Delaware Valley Veterans Home, Northeast Philadelphia. He was 80.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nan Conlin Canino and brother to the late James and Christopher Canino.

Joe was the beloved husband of 39 years to Susan E. Thomas Canino.

Joe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Albert R. Atkinson, Jr. Post 210 in Doylestown, and also the Disabled American Veterans Organization.

He was employed with the government for numerous years as a clock repairman at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and he also operated his own business on Sansom St. as a watch repair specialist. In later years, Joe worked for Host Marriot Services Turnpike division.

In his leisure, Joe enjoyed playing the saxophone and participating in The Polish American Stringband shows and activities. Joe will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know and love him.

In addition to his loving wife Susan, Joe is survived by his sisters; Nina E. Lachowicz of Philadelphia, and Mary A. Canino of Holland, PA.

Joe's family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the exemplary care he received from the staff of the Delaware Valley Veterans Home and also to those at Aria Hospital Torresdale Division.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 10 a.m. until his funeral service at 11 a.m., Monday, June 10 in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
